common ground[s] is a new duet by Germaine Acogny and Malou Airaudo.

Germaine Acogny is the founder of the École des Sables. Malou Airaudo was a longtime dancer with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. She danced many important roles. Germaine Acogny and Malou Airaudo developed the duet together. That means they jointly worked out the idea and the choreography. They also dance it. And perform it on stage.

Germaine Acogny and Malou Airaudo are both over 70 years old. They have had many experiences in their lives. In dance. As mothers. As grandmothers. As granddaughters. In their duet, they explore their experiences and dance education.

The collaboration began at École des Sables in November 2019. In February 2020, they continued at the Folkwang University of the Arts (Essen, Germany). Malou previously has been head of the dance department at Folkwang University until 2018. Fabrice Bouillon was also at both places. He composed the music for the duet. Stage rehearsals took place at Sadler's Wells in London. The lighting concept was also developed there.
