What material can I request from the Pina Bausch Foundation?
The Pina Bausch Foundation can provide archive materials relating to the work of Pina Bausch, including but not limited to her work with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Archival material includes photographs, video, and audio recordings. Archive materials cannot be made available for private use.

Should I refer directly to the selected archive object in my inquiry?
Direct reference to specific objects helps the Foundation to process the inquiry. In the contact form, for example, the permalink of the object can be entered under “used or required material.”
How long does it take to process my request?
Requests take approx. 14 working days to process. Depending on the material requested, it may take longer for the Foundation to make it accessible.
What rights can the Pina Bausch Foundation grant?
The Pina Bausch Foundation is responsible for the copyright to Pina Bausch’s pieces and choreographies and Rolf Borzik’s costumes and stage designs. It also holds the copyrights to the photographic work of Ulli Weiss.
The Verlag der Autoren manages the worldwide representation of choreography rights. Please address your inquiries regarding the intended use of choreography to:

The names „Pina“ and „Pina Bausch“ are protected by trademark law. Unauthorized use is not permitted and must be requested from the Pina Bausch Foundation. The same applies to the depiction of Pina Bausch and Rolf Borzik.
What other rights do I need to obtain?
The Foundation cannot grant rights to Peter Pabst’s stage designs and the rights of all persons depicted on the materials. These rights and any music or quotation rights, e.g., in the case of video sequences, must be obtained independently by the requester.
What fees are charged?
License fees may apply for non-commercial and commercial use requests.
I want to use material on Pina Bausch in an educational context. Who can I contact, and what are the conditions?
You can submit your request via the contact form. Use for educational purposes is free of charge.
I’m a student/scientist and would like to sift through materials for my research. What do I have to do? Who can I contact?
There are many materials accessible online on pinabausch.org/de/archives. If you need different materials, please use the contact form. Please select „Research“.
Please understand that the Pina Bausch Archives are not open to the public and that on-site research is only possible by prior arrangement. Providing materials digitally on pieces that are not yet part of the online archives is only possible to a limited extent.
Can I request materials for private use?
Please understand that we cannot make materials available for private use.

I’m depicted on an archival object but not named (e.g., photos or videos). Who can I contact?
The Pina Bausch Foundation’s team thoroughly researches the rights holders before publishing any material. When you contact us, the Foundation will send you a corresponding user agreement to authorize us to publish the material. If we have not reached or located you, please contact us at foundation@pinabausch.org or use our contact form.
